Obituary For John Braxton Maxwell

John Braxton Maxwell, 96 of Hendersonville, NC passed away on December 27, 2022 at Trinity View Senior Living Center. Born on June 27, 1926 to the late Samuel David and Ida Wall Maxwell. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Frances Cagle Maxwell; son-in-law, Myron Redden; six brothers, Arthur, Walter, Will, Glenn, Sam and Clyde; four sisters, Ethel, Elma, Pat and Myrtle.

A member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville, he served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. JB attended Asheville Junior College and retired from Equifax where he worked as a claim’s investigator.

His many hobbies and passions included, golfing, deacon at FBC, Sound of Singing Youth chaperone, VFW Commander, American Legion, Jaycees, growing azaleas and rhododendrons, reading and spending time with family.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his daughters, Teresa “Terri” M. Redden and Vicki M. Worley (Bill) both of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Blake Redden (Natalie) of Fletcher, Brad Redden (Ashley) of Waxhaw, Rob Worley (Melody) of Marietta, SC, Christa Parlow (Eric) and Kelley Turbyfill (Anthony) both of Hendersonville; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ella and Maxwell “Max” Redden, Hensley and Anniston Redden, Anna and Trace Turbyfill, Jenny and Jordan Parlow; one sister-in-law, Jesse Cagle; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3pm on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church Hendersonville. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may by made in his name to, Blue Ridge Honor Flights, 1105 Forest Hill Dr. Hendersonville, NC 28791.

    Terri, Vicki and family ~ I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious Dad. He and your Mom were such dear friends to me. I'm so thankful that his pain and suffering are over and that he is with our Lord, your Mom and all of the family waiting there for him.
