Obituaries

Kathleen P. Collins, 86 of Brevard passed away at home on April 2, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Hess and Hattie Mathis Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her six sisters, four brothers, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Jackson County, NC she was a Christian, faithful woman, who loved her family. She retired from Olin Corp after 27 years of employment. She also worked as a cosmetologist and greatly enjoyed interior design and crafting. Surviving to cherish her memory is her son, Chris Aiken and wife Cindy; grandson, Austin Aiken and wife Sarai; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Alonso; brother, Kermit; sister, Juanita; sister-in-law, Birdell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
