Obituary For Lucia Pedraz Hodge
Lucy's pursuit of happiness was found in her love of family, children in the community, raising Malti-poo puppies, and volunteering for the Henderson County Public Schools. She was active in the Miss America Organization for 35+ years; she coached young women for advancement and fundraised for the Miss NC and SC finalist scholarship pageants. She was a volunteer for the Guardian ad Litem program in Henderson County for many years, recipient of the "Order of the Long Leaf Pine" awarded by Governor Jim Hunt in 1985 for her volunteerism, and was a real estate broker. She was recognized for her many years of service providing make-up for Sr Play productions at Hendersonville High School.
On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, she passed away surrounded by her family, after a long illness. She was born to Victor and Marguerite Pedraz Sr in NY, New York, and lived in Miami, FL, Circleville, OH, and Hendersonville, NC. She attended St Mary's Academy, graduated in 1959, and attended Barry University in Miami Shores, FL.
