Obituary For Melinda Kathleen Owens
Melinda Kathleen Owens, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 10, 2023, in Hendersonville, NC. She was born on January 11, 1969, in Long Island, NY. Melinda was a long-time resident of Western North Carolina and loved the mountains so much she raised her children here and continued to always find her way back to the Smokey Mountains.
During her time here on Earth, Melinda found her passion as a mobility transportation driver. She took this role as her main focus in life.
Melinda was a traveler, finding solace in embarking on long journeys and exploring new places. Whether it was hiking through lush mountains and the idea of relaxing on sandy beaches. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her love for animals, and she found great joy in their company.
Melinda's education included attending Mars Hill College, where she pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Science/Administration. It was there that she honed her skills and developed a deep appreciation for the world of business.
She leaves behind a loving and caring mother, Elizabeth Owens, who will forever hold cherished memories close to her heart. Melinda also leaves behind her son, Kevin Hayes whom she cared for tremendously. Beloved daughter, Katrina Stephenson, and son-in-law John Stephenson, as well as her brothers, Greg and Peter Owens, will miss her dearly, along with her two nephews Charlie and Andrew.
As we bid farewell to Melinda, let us remember her unwavering love for her family, and her unbroken spirit. Though she may be gone, her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
