Obituary For Philip Herman Owens

Philip Herman Owens, 84 of Asheville, NC passed away on October 25, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. A lifelong native of Buncombe County, he was born on January 23, 1938 to the late Barbara Blankenship Owens and Carl E. Owens Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Barbara Knighten Owens.

Mr. Owens served in the US Marines, graduated from Clemson University, and retired from Kubota as a Regional Sales Manager. Philip loved history, photography, and listening to music. He also enjoyed golf, and in his younger years he enjoyed motorcycling, boating and classic cars. A marksman, he was passionate about sharp shooting and was a member of the Rifle and Pistol Club where he enjoyed shooting with friends and family. He had a deep appreciation for nature and the beauty of God's creation and enjoyed scenic drives along the parkway.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years, Frances Elizabeth “Bette” Dermid Owens; daughters, Deborah Ann Owens King and Audrey Owens Wise; son- in-law, Charles Gregory “Greg” Wise; brother, Carl Elwyn Owens, Jr.; sister, Barbara Elizabeth "Beth" Owens; grandchildren, Owen Reeves King, Logan Gregory Wise and Lukas Philip Wise.

A celebration of his life will be held at 4pm on November 12, 2022 at Woody's Farm, 185 Buckner Branch Rd. Barnardsville, NC 28709.

    Sorry to my cousin Bette, and family. I always liked Phil, but haven't seen him in quite a while. Our thoughts and prayers are with you !! I just learned of the memorial, or would've been there. Heaven gained another angel.
