Obituary For Richard Joseph Frischmann

Richard Joseph Frischmann, a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, died onNovember 3rd, 2024 at 87 years old.

Richard was a native of Milwaukee, WI, where he cultivated his lifelong love of Harley Davidson motorcycles, cheese, the Green Bay Packers, and, of course, beer. He worked for Johnson Controls for many years until a job opportunity at Coors moved him and his family to Lakewood, CO. Richard and his family then moved permanently to Mills River, NC. He retired from Kyocera in Hendersonville, NC.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy and Joseph Frischmann, his sister, Barbara Kohnert, his grandsons, Michael and Joseph Hairston, and his loving wife of 64 years, Kathleen Frischmann. Richard leaves behind 5 daughters: Linda Baker (Nick), Mary Harrill (John), Peggy Hairston (Bruce), Elizabeth Tingle (John), and Joan Frischmann. Richard also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Carrie McIntyre (James), Ashley Langston (Chris), Hannah Macomson (Carter), Zeb Whitt, Jason Harrill, Jonah VanDoren (Marisa), Hope Hairston, and Shelby Hairston, as well as 3 great grandchildren, Olivia Shaw, Van Macomson, and Isabel Langston.

Richard was a family man through and through. His family will always remember him as the life of the party, sporting novelty suspenders and wielding singing statues. Richard loved a gimmick, and he was an avid collector of all things practical and impractical. He was also a talented musician, mastering the accordion, concertina, piano, organ, dulcimer, harmonica, kazoo, and many other instruments. In his prime, Richard could repair anything, from maintaining the family cars to fixing and restoring his vast collection of clocks.

Richard will truly be missed, and his death leaves a great void in the lives of his family and friends. If he were here, though, he’d leave us with the words of his prized, wall-mounted Billy Bass fish: “don’t worry, be happy.”

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cremation & Funeral Care (336 Rockwood Road Unit 101 Arden, NC 28704).
