Obituary For Sandra "Darlene" Layton
Sandra “Darlene” Layton, 71 of Mills River passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at The Greens at Hendersonville. A native of Henderson County, she was born on July 19, 1951 to the late Frank and Mary Smith Creasman. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Harold “Bud” Creasman and Bernice Creasman.
Darlene worked as a Quality Control Tech at J. Crew Group until she retired in 2012. She loved to read books by various authors. Some of her many interests were arts and crafts. When she could she liked to go to pottery exhibits. She enjoyed a variety of music genres and loved to go to live concerts. Darlene loved animals especially Viszlas, Dobies and Labs. We used to go to my daughter’s equestrian events and she loved taking care of Michele’s horse for her while Michele did other things.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 18 years, Robert “Phil” Layton; son, Christopher Hipps; sisters, Lucille Blair (Leo F. ) and Ann Allen ( Frank); brother, Jack Creasman (Pat); nephews, Norman Blair, Marvin Blair (Ellen), Jeff Allen (Karen ), Todd Creasman, Blake Creasman ( Tammy); nieces, Kim Ramsey ( Tim), Arlene Allen Rhodes (Don); step-son, Josh Layton (Kelly) and their children, Kaitlyn, Wyatt and Ella; step-daughter, Michele Layton Mallonee (Chris) and their son, Ryan; step-son, Sean Layton (Erin).
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4pm on December 3, 2022 at Avery’s Creek United Methodist Church.
